Family pleads suspect to 'come forward' after deadly hit-and-run

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A family member told ABC13 that 26-year-old Galilea Adan was the victim of a deadly hit-and-run near the old Sharpstown Mall over the weekend.

"She didn't deserve to die," Adan's cousin, Kimberly Trujillo, said. "She was young and full of life."

The Houston Police Department, which says this is being investigated by its homicide division, responded to the call about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday at Bellerive Drive near Marinette Drive.

A spokesperson with the department said it all started as an altercation as a group, which included Adan, was leaving Red River Dancehall and Saloon on Bellaire Boulevard.

"At some point, the driver pulled over, and the driver and passengers exited the vehicle," HPD said in a statement. "The driver got back into the vehicle and hit the victim with his vehicle before fleeing the scene."

Investigators said Adan was found in the roadway on Bellerive Drive and pronounced dead on-scene by the Houston Fire Department.

They said the male driver's grey SUV was found nearby, but nobody was inside when it was located.

They have not named that suspect at this time.

"He just needs to come forward," Trujillo said.

Anyone with information is asked to call HPD's homicide division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
